London, December 10. Sir Douglas Haig reports: "Outpost oncountcrs occurred west of Graincourt. An attempted raid southward of Lens was repulsed. Reuter's correspondent at Headquarters, writing on December 8, says that his impression is that the enemy's situation is almost untenable in a considerable area of tho country ho is reoccupying. "The wliolo or our withdrawal resulted in our establishing a tremendously strong position, and the recent gains are thoroughly defendod.
