THE LOST AMERICAN DESTROYER

TORPEDOED 500 MILES FROM LAND. Washington, December 9. A motor-boat with six survivors of the United States destroyer Jacob Jones, including Commander Bagley was picked up and landed at the Scilly Islands. The total saved is forty-three. The destroyer was of the newest type. There is much comment at the fact that she was sunk 500 miles from shore. Another report states that Commander Bagley, of the Jacob Jones, brother-in-law to Mr. Daniels (Secretary for tho Navy), is among the miss-irg.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
