MARRIAGE OF THE BLINDED
FAMILY HAPPINESS OF AFFLICTED SOLDIERS. Sir Arthur -Pearson is appealing lo tlie public to help him to carry a stop farther the splendid work for blinded soldiers that is being done at St. DunStan's (states tho "Daily News"). Something more is needed to oncourago bachelor blinded soldiers to marry and surround themselves with, families, ana also to help those already married with tho new babies who may come. The Empire will want the sons and daughters of these men.
The Government make a weekly allowance for children horn before oi shortly after a soldier's discharge from the Army, but thero is no allowance for the children of men who marry aftei leaving the service because of disablement. The generous help that has already hefm extended to these men shows that the public.wants them to lead the happiest Uvea possible, and feels they should not he hampered by difficulties that forethought 'can reTo give blind soldiers the assurance that the children who come to brighten thoir lives shall bo provided for till they can make ther own way-in the world is the object of Sir Arthur Pearson's new appeal. Ho hopes to raise a fund to provide ss. per week"for each of the children not cared for by the State. • The total required will certainly amount to £250,000, and a sum so laree can only be raised by an effort worthy tho causo.
