Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At Palmtrston North on November u we had an average yarding of stook and a fair attendance of buyors. There was a fairly good demand for all classes of stock, and we had practioally a total clearanoe, prioes having a tendency to harden. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., Pahiatua, report on their cattle fair, held in their Mangahao yards, as follows;—We oflered a large yarding of all descriptions of cattle to a very representative attendance of buyers from all parts of the North Island. A number of well-grown bullocks camo forward from Makuri, Ngaturi, and Tane districts, and elicited keen competition. A line of 20 threo and four-year Hereford-Shorthorn-cross bullocks, bred by and oHered on account of Mr. A. H. Hoggard, were favourably, commented on by a number of critics, and realised the satisfactory 'figure of £18 6s. A pen of fat and forward four and five-year bullocks, sold on account of Mrs. Stewart, topped the market, reaching tho satisfactory figure of £18 12s. 6d. The Balfour Estate three-year-old Shorthorn steers, 40 in number, were sold to Messrs. Burling Eros, at the satisfactory figure of £17. A nice pen of 30 four-year l'.A. steers, ex ' Chelsefleld" (M. Caselberg), made £17 10s.; 16 fat and forward steers, on account of Mr. J. Y. Crawford, made £17 10s.; 14 P.A. steers, on account of Mr. J. Y. Crawford, made £17. On account of A. M'Kay, 18 • fat " and forward bullocks made £17 17s, 6d.; on account of H. Miller, Ngaturi, 29 four-year .P.A. steers, £16 175.; ou account A. D. Egllnton 22 four and flve-ycar steers, £16 19s. 6d. The demand for low-conditioned threo and four-year cattle ,-was not keen, but vendors met tho -market and a large number of thlß class of cattle went to the Wanganui district at priccs ranging from £11 10s. to £14. There was a keen inquiry for female cattle; a nice lino of 40 three-year-old Hereford-cross liciferß offered on account of Mr. J. T. Kotlowski realised £11 169.; these went to the Huntcrvllle district. Another small line of 20 two-year Hereford heifers made £13 16s. The competition for dairy yearling steers ilnd heifers was not keen, a number of these returning home unsold. Out of a total yarding of 2750, we sold 1920 head, which, considering the easier tendency of the market, must be-considered highly satisfactory.
