EGtfERS A SOLDIER.
After tho publication some davs ago of a statement that Frederick William Eggers, now nnder arrest in connection with tho West Coaet murder, hue been a member of the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, Baeo Be-, cords reported that the official files did not confirm the statement. No record of a soldier named Frederick William Eggers was to he fepd. Further inquiries, however, have brought to lieht papers that are believed to confirm tho original statement. , A file that has been brought to lieht shp.,ws that one William Eggers (miespelt Eggars in the first instance) was a member of tho Main Body. Hβ was appointed orderly to Lieutenant-Colonel Stewart, but did not got away with the Main Body. He was transferred to the Second Reinforcement and was discharged prior to embarkation for domestic reasons. There is reason to believe that this Eggers is identical with the man now tinder arrest. Further inquiries are being made by the police.
