The demand for store sheep was a little keener, and prices were rather firmer. Fat lambs showed a decline of about 2s. per head, mainly due to the largo entry. Fat cattle were firm until the end of tho sale, when prices oased off. An export buyer was operating to some extent in medium quality cows. Tho fat sheep market opened at last week's rates, and after easing there was a sharp * advanco eaual to ,Is. Cd. to 2s. per head on the opening values. There was a fairly good demand for forward store cattle and useful dairy cows. Fat'pigs were firm and stores also sold well. Store Sheep.—4 and G-tooth ewes, 325. Id.; 2-tooth ewes, 2-ss. The weed known as ntewai (or "biddy-biddy") has, says our Masterton correspondent, come to seed in the North Wairarapa earlier this season than usual, and will have a bad effect" upon the wool clips.
