EFFICIENCY BOARD
SUB-COMMITTEES NOMINATED.
At the meeting of the Council of the Contral Chamber of Commerce hold yesterday afternoon the president (Mr. C. M Luke) announced that a meeting of th'o Nomination Committee (appointed at a publio meeting held on ThiiTsdiiy evenin" for tho purpose of assisting tlio Efficiency Board) had been held, and certain sub-committees had been set «p, whose membership would not be made known until it was known whether the gentlemen selected would consent to act. These committees would go closely into many questions that were interesting the public at the present time. Thoir work as a Nomination Committee had now ceased, unless the Efficiency Board chose to call them together at a later yenod. Mr. A. Leigh Hunt, another member of the Nomination Committee, said that Mr. Luke had covered the ground as far as he could. Ho read a remit which the chamber had sent on to Ilia conference of the associated chambers dealing comprehensively with economy and efficiency. They would hare to study and practise economy and efficiency in the iuture. Germany had done it to gain her objects, and they would have to do the same thing. Anyone could see that it was absolutely necessary on seeing; the waste of semes and material tbnt was going on at the present lime.
