The week's issue of the Government "Gazetto" contains, amongst others, the following notices to mariners The Auokland Harbour Board have noti--flcrt that tho dredger Hapai is now working approximately 200 ft. TTCBt of the centre or King's Wharf and in towards the north-eastern corner of Central Wharf. It has six moorings laid out in north, south, cast, and directions. Maori Rock' beacon, at north entrance passage between Kawau Island and tho mainland, has disappeared. Tt will be reerected at the earliest opportunity. The Gisborne Harbour Board have notified thai, dredge moorings have been laid in Gisborne Roadstead 350 ft. westward from end of the groyne. The radio station at the site of the old arsenal near Farente Point, Papeete Harbour, hns been completed. The Baden Powell is duo to-night ftom New Plymouth and will sail at 5 p.m. tomorrow for Napier (inner harbour). The Kinl. bound for Westport, passed the Heads at 8 p.m. yesterday. The Maori will resume her rnnnin?: in the ferry service this cjeni.ng, sailing at 7.45 o'clock "for Lyttelton from No. 4 Qneen'B Wharf. The Monowai will withdraw from the ferry scrvice on her arrival at Wellington this morning. The Calm js dun to-day from Wanganui. sailing this afternoon for Lyttclton, Bluff, Duncdin, and Timaru.

Tho John is due this afternoon from Lyttclton and will continue hor way to Wanganui to-morrow.

The Himitangi will come off the slip this morning: and aail at noon for Waitangi and Owenga (Chatham Islands) via Lytlolton. The vessel will return to Wellington via Lyttclton in about ten days' time.

The scow Marie-will pail-to-day* for Puponga to load coal for Picton. Tho Iluia arrived lato yesterdav afternoon from Lyttclton, and will 'sail today at 5 p.m. for Picton, taking cargo lor that port and Blenheim and Scdflon. lho vessel will return hero on Sunday and sail on Monday at 5 p.m .for Wanganui and New Plymouth.

Ihe Wootton is duo to-day from Lyttclton and will roturn to that port tomorrow. » The Putiki will leave Dunedin to-day for Timaru and Wellington, arriving here on Monday. Shs will sail the same day for Wanganui.

The Mapourika was to have left Greymouth at 9 p.m. yesterday lor Wcßtfiort, Nelson ,and Wellington. The Ngakuta will sail to-day for Greymouth to load again for Wellington. Tho Wiramera is due to-dny from Auckland* via ports. She has the following passengers:—For Wellington: Mrs. and Miss Daniels, Mrs. Jacobson, Mr, Evans. For Lyttelton: Mr. O'Connor. For Duu* edin: Miss Taylor, Mcsdamcß Hasli:tt, Jamicson, Messrs. Jorris, Jenk; and 26 steerage. The Wimmera will sail at 5 p.m. for Lytldton and Dnnedin. The engineer to the Timaru Harbour Roivrd reported at the last meeting that, up to the, present 170 ft. of new wharf had been constructed, and 190 ft. of the old work dismantled and removed. When the work was put. in hand it. was intended to rebuild about 210 ft. of tho. oldest part of the, wharf .and it is cxpected to have this section completed about the end of next month. At last. Friday's meeting of the -I'lrnanj Harbour Board the chairman stated that, in 1913 42 overseas vessels arrived iu Tjmaru, in 1914 47, and for the year 1917 to date nine arrived. The chairman remarked that the decrease showed how the board's revenue was affected. At the lHfit meeting of the Suva (ri.u) Chamber of Commerce one of the speakers, a leading draper, said tho amount' of pillaging that went on in Sydney was enormous. Last year it amounted to over £100,000. The experience in Suva was that cargoes transhipped nt. other ports than Sydney suffered nothing like the samp amount of pillaging, and if the place could be avoided their insurance rates would go down.
