SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE.
The seventeenth annual conference of dolegates of the Koyal Kew Zealand Association of Eis Majesty's Veterans was held in the Town Hall yesterday. Colonel Porter, C.8., vice-president, occupied the chair. Those present were: — Major Tregear, 1.5.0. (Palmereton North), Captain Humphries (Taranaki), Captain J. Henry (Wellington), Mr. H. Walton (Han-era), Air. W. T. Dennett (Hastings and Hawke's Bay), Mr. \V. Fidler (Masterton), Mr. H. Arden (Taranaki), Major Lomax (Wanganui), LieutColonel Jiaclntosh, and Jlr. R. Tiugey (Wellington).
Apologies for absence were read from the Governor-General and Sir James Carroll.
The annual report contained a suggestion that the rules and constitution of tho association should be altered to admit of tho inclusion of Imperial naval and soldier war medallists, Maori War medallists, Africau War medallists, and medallists of the present war. The report was adopted. The followiug officers were elected:— Vice-president, Colonel Porter; secretary and treasurer, Major Tregear; auditor, Captain Humphries; committee, Major Lomax, Messrs. H. Artlen, E. Tingey, and Captain Humphries.
The chairman, in speaking of the Maori "War pensions and tho action of the Government in connection with them, said that Tjhile the Government had granted an increase of M 3, it had imposed the condition that a pensioner must be in receipt of less, than .£2OO a year, including his pension aud the inprease mentioned. The delegates passed a tote of sympathy with the families of 21 veterans who had died during the year.
