London, October It. The "Dnily Chronicle" learns authoritatively that" Mr. L.loyd George will shortly innko an announcement regarding an air offensive. Cabinet has practically decided to establish an Air Ministry, 'i'ho "Chronicle" adds: "We will shortly be in a position to conduct extensive air reprisals against German towns; but at present the military requirements ' demand almost all the available aeroplanes for tho West front. The public must not bo panic-strickon, and must exercise patience. We shall shortly see a British supremacy in the air, with substantial results."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
The High Commissioner reports: A French official report stales: "As a reprisal for Uio bombardment of Bar-le-Duc, wo bombed the German town ot Baden."
PUBLIC ANGER RISING GROWING IMPATIENCE AT DELAY IN ''HITTING BACK." (Itoc. October 4, 7.50 p.m.) London, October 3. Most of the newspapers emphatically demand aerial retaliation on the German towns, and stress Mr. Lloyd George's remark that we should bomb Germany, with compound interest. Public opinion, manifested, in various ways, displays 'growing anger at the delay in striking back. A meeting has been convened at tho Mansion House to press on tho Government a public demand for re-taliation.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
AIR CASUALTIES V. TRAFFIC CASUALTIES . ■ LONDON'S ACCIDENT TOLL. • (Rec. October 4, 10.D5 p.m.) London, October 3. The Tress Bureau slates: In order to enable the public to view the air raids in a just proportion, it should be remembered that while 487 were Filled and 14,104 injured in traffic accidents in London during the first nine months of 1917, only 191 were killed and 749 wounded by aeroplano i-aids.-Aus.-N.7i.
