. An agricultural course for teachers is to be held in Masterton next month, in. which it.is expected that fifty teachers will participate. As a. result of a military conference held in Masterton, it has been decided that the area officers scour the country districts and endeavour to "rope in" men who have failed to report after being draitn in tlio ballot. At a public meeting in Masterton 'on Saturday afternoon, at which the Mayor presided, and several patriotic speeches were made, a resolution was passed expressing an inflexible determination to see the war through to a victorious end. The Municipal Silver Band played patriotic airs. Some months ago Mr. A. P. Whatman, of Masterton, made a gift of his Ahikouka estate, near Greytown, for settlement by returned soldiers. The leases of the property expire next month, but Mr. Whatman and the trustees have decided that/ as the war is not yet over, the estate shall not be occupied by sckhcrs for another twelve mouths. The Masterton Miniature liiflc Club has received challenges from the Carterton and Feathcrston Clubs to defend the I'ragncll Shield. .
