THE ( MOUNT COOK SITU. Mr. li. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs) asked the Minister of Education, in fho -Uouso if the Government had yet decided to sot apart a portion of the land now occupied, by tho military authorities at Mount Cook Barracks as a sito tor a technical school for Wellington. The Minister of Education (tho Hon. J. A. Hunan) replied tliat he was unable at present to jive a definite reply to tlio question. The matter to which tho question relates'would, however, receive duo consideration when tho report of tho special committee recently set up to aclviso as to the purposes for which tlio whole of tho area of the Mount Cook Uaol Bescrro could best bo utilised was available.
Mr. Wright, referring (o tlio matter in tho House yesterday, said- that tlie need lor a,technical school in Wellington was urgent. Tho Government owned a big section of land on the Mount Cook Gaol site, and most of it bad .been idle for years. If tho Government would set aside a portion of this area of land for a technical school site the people would subscribe towards the cost of a building.
