"THE LAST POST"
TIiIBUTE TO CORPORAL PAUL FHEYBEIKi. "He was a good and true citizen who led a sound and clean life. As ii soldier he did hie <luty cheerfully and fearlessly. Our lato comrade, Corporal Paul Freyborg, killed in action somewhere in France! Bugler!" Curt and expressive, soldierly yet impressive, tho above words were spoken by Captain George N. Goldie at Jhe Bucldo Street Drill Hall last evening before a company of the D Battery Heserve, a unit of tho Otngo High School Old Boys, and a representution of tho 1) Battery, who stood to attention with bared heads. At the call of the Commanding Officer tho "Last Post" wns sounded by Bugler Neil Goldie, and few who heard tho beautiful call, blown, as it was last evening, in memory of a brave soldier who has "gone West," conld hear it unmoved. . Among those present were Major Petherick and Lieutenant Cameron (D Battery), Captain Grant, tho Mayor (Mr. J. 1 , . "Luke, C.M.G.), and a fairly large attendance of the public, including several friends of the lato Corporal Freyberg. The Battery Eeservo mustered fifty-five fitr.ong, and there were eonio twenty-five Otago High School old boys present.
