VESSELS FOR BRITAIN.' Orders havo been placed in Canada by Great Britain for twenty-two steel vessels of tonnage varying from 3400 to 8800. Eight more are under consideration. The total tonnage now under.consideration is 150,000. The vessels are for transportation of food and other supplies from Canada to Britain, and are to bo launched this year or early in 1918. The question of large orders for wooden ships to the valuo of £2,000,000 is also under consideration, and Sir Thomas White has offered to finance the orders for tho wooden ships. All orders arc to be dclivored through the Impqrinl Munitions Board,

On Saturday the ICiritona is due from Napier. The vessel is to leave tho same day for tho East Coast. Owing to bad weather the Kapuui only, got out of Patca yesterday, and is duo to-day. She leaves again to-day. It is expected that the annual overhaul of tho Kapiti will bo finished and the vessel ready to start, again in the Welling-lon-Wanganui trade to-morrow.

Yesterday's ndviees were that the Kittawa and Kamo wero still bar-bound at Greymouth.

To-day the Corinna leaves for New Plymonth, taking general cargo. Owing to the bad weather yestorday there was practically no work done on the wharves. As they could not do the required work tho Monowai and Komata were put oil till to-day. The Monowai leaves at 3 p.m.'for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland, and will take a limited amount of Auckland cargo, and the Komata will get away to-day for Westport.

Yesterday, the Wootton left Wellington for North Cape to load coal for Lyttelton. She is expected back on Tuesday next, when sho will again load for Lyttelton.

The John left yesterday for southern ports. She is duo again on Friday next, when she goes on to Wanganui.

The Ngatoro was delayed by rain yesterday, and is now fixed to sail this evening for Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Grcymouth.

The Ngakuta went on the Patent Slip yesterday, and will probably come off on Saturday night.

It is expected that the Tainui will be loading in Wellington on Tuesday for Lyttolton.

It will bo about three weeks before the auxiliary scow Magic can go on the Patent Slip for repairs In connection with a leak sprung during recent bad weather.

With 400 tons of general cargo, the Orcpulii is duo about 3 p.m. to-day from southern ports. The vessel will leave tonight for Nelson and Greymonth, taking cargo for both ports.
