WOMEN POLICE
VIEWS OP HON. A. 11. MYERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, June 23. A deputation representing several women's organisations waited on the Hon. A. M. .Myers, asking support in'furtherance of a proposal for. the appointment of women police. Mr. Myers replied that he w.ould confer with the-Hon. A. L. Herdman about it. Personally, he thought it highly desirable that' women should be appointed-with power to deal with certain phases of life touched upon by the speakers. :Ho could not, however, : support any proposal that such women 'police be given the power of ordinary policemen. He would not approve, for instance, of their arresting a man. Incidentally,! the Minister stated that we had every, reason to be gratified with the ■' present Police Department, Ivhich did ite work thoroughly and well. Tlie work of women police would be supplementary to that of the existing Force.
