SOLDIERS' GRAVES
vVR MEN BURIED IN CAPE TOWN Mr. 3 . j>; Luke, C.MIg. '(Jfayor of Wellington) has received the following communication and enclosure from Mr. J.J. Clark, Mayor of Dunedin:— "I havo received the following letter Irom tte hon. secretary of the Capo ToinTAnzae Committee, with a request that I would lot it be known as widely as possible in New Zealand. • There may ibe mothers or fathers of oirn soldiers who are buried ■in Capo Town who would like to have a photograph of the last Testing place of their son,'and have the satisfaction of knowing the grave is be-ing-cared for. This committee also carried out a memorial service in Caps Town on Anzac Day.'" . [Enclosure.] . A little while ago the members of the Ansae Cape Town Committee decided to ■undertake the care of the graves of Australian and New Zealand i soldiers who nave died at Cape Town either on their way to or from Europe. As the outcome of this decision, on Sunday, April 15, the first visit was paid to the military cemetery at WalteniaTJa, near Cape Town, where those soldiers lie, and the committee eaw that their graves were decorated .with, beautiful flowers. It is the.intention of the ladies in question to visit the graves quarterly, and generally attend to them. The following aro the names of\the men:— Private Vh. S. Stevenson, No. 17,232, New Zealand Infantry. Died November ■ 23, 1916. . . ; . , ■■■ ;. Any relative or friend of these soldiers wishing for particulars or desiring photograph of the grave where any of these men lie may have same on writing "to the hon. secretary, Cape Town Aiizac Committee, Mrs. W. Lucd, Afralia, Flower Street, Gardene, Cape Tovn.
