MIRAMAR AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr. I''. Towuseiid) presiding. There wei'o aiso present Councillors S. 11. Underwood, 11. Hawthorn, W". 11. Green, J. Pollock, and 11. K. Bobertshav. A resolution making general, separate, and special rates was passed. The general rate was fixed at 25d.. for hospital and charitable aid lSd„ special rate 35d„ the same as last yea*-. The ordinary meeting of the council was held immediately afterwards.
The Hastings Borough Council wrote asking fov support, for the Nat. Beamish National Efficiency Scheme. Tiio letter wa= received. The Borough Engineer reported that Saturday's storm caused no damage to borough property, but some slight damage was (lone at'one privato residence. Councillor Robortshaw suggested that flic borough should establish an insurance fund In connection with the motor h;is, and after an informal discussion it was suggested that Councillor Uobenshirw should formulate a scheme for submission to the council. It was pointed out that if the bus was to bo run in tho cilv at ltlght, tho vehicle ought to bo insured. Finally notice of motion; was given bv Councillor Croon, to rescind the decision of the council not to Insure tho motor bus. and that tho mutter be discussed at the nest meeting, and that, the Town Clerk submit all the information available. Tim Vavor stated that a, scheme was being considered for making rise of the bus in Miramar North during tho daytime, and this scheme would be submitted to tho council verr shortly..
