SUNDAY GOLF

Sir,—The idea might be got from "KelburnV letter in your issue of Saturday that the Presbyterians are the only earnest Christians in these parts who have a. religious objection lo Sunday golf being played on our municipal golf links. This is, however, hardly thecaso. There are many non-Presbyterians who take from Holy Writ the doctrine that nations and communities are punished for incurring the displeasure of "the Almighty. Citizens holding these views naturally do not wish to see Sunday golf sanctioned by us as a community, nor can they be blamed for holding the (probably sound) creed that Sunday golf please* the Prince of Darkness more than it docs the Prince of Light. Personally 1 cannot picture anyone pleading that the two standards of Sunday conduct are equal—or that "ICelburn'e" is superior—when we. come_ before "Jehovah's awful Throne." Nor does it seem to me likely that we 6hall on that great day heat- "very much talk ,from golfers about "sports," "wowsers," "narrowness," "intolerance." etc.—l am, etc., GET TO THE HOOT QT IT.
