Sir,—Will you allow me space to make a few remarks re the above ? I see by the last council meeting report that they .passed a resolution to get a Bill passed to stop tho. playing of golf' on, the Sabj bath on tho municipal golf links, but since the meeting Councillor Luckie, backed up by six or seven other councillors, has given notice to move that it be rescinded. Do the citizens of Wellington, consider Councillor Enckie and his backers' actions in the best interest of the city? Is it -not their duty to assist in managing iU affairs in. the best way possible, and do they consider encouraging golf and sports on the Sabbath honestly and faithfully carrying out their duty to those who elected them? If those who make use of the golf links cannot get enough pleasure out of it six days in the week without encroaching on the Sabbath, then let the council close it up altogether." I eee a letter in your Saturday's edition signed "Kelburn," criticising the actions of Hie 'Worship the Mayor and the Presbyterians in the matter, and talking about Christian intolerance. It is very easy to see what class of person "ICelburn" is, for I am sorry to have to state that we have a large number of his class who would bring any nation or community to destruction in a few years if they were allowed i'ull scope to carry out their ideas.
