A short sitting of the Magistrate's Court - ', was held on Saturday morning,. Mr. L; U. Reid, S.il., being on the JUench.

Christopher Seddoli was charged that on May 25, by moans of false pretences, he did obtain from William Domifean a milititry. pay warrant for 55., with intent to defraud. Accused pleaded guilty and was,fined IDs., in default. 11 days' imprisonment. .. George L. Johnstone was charged with disorderly behaviour in .Viviim Street while drunk, and also with obstructing a'constable while in the execution of his duty. Ho'.'wiis conyicted and fined 205., in. tho alternative seven days' imprisonment,' on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative. For insobriety John Flanagan, an old offender, was fined 205., in default seven days' imprisonment, and a prohibition order was issued against him. Vivo first " offenders were convicted and discharged. Walter Newall. for whom Mr.. H. F. O'Leavy appeared, was charged that on Slav 23 ho did steal, four bags of flour, of the value of £6, 'the property 6f the Wellington Harlwur Board, and JohnJ Turner, for whom Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared, was charged with receiving the flour knowing tho same ,to have been stolen. A- remand to Wednesday was grunted "in each case.
