GUNS CONCENTRATED ON THE VILLAGE
GERMANS CUT UP AT BULLECOURT

PIRATES V. FOOD SHIPS
Fresnoy, which was retaken by the Germans after an overwhelming assault, is now under the concentra ted fire of the British guns, and the village lias become an inferno in which the last state of the Huns is infinitely worse than the first. Portion of the lost ground has been regained, and at other points the enemy's counter-attacks ' have been literally cut to pieces. On the French front the fighting in the various sectors has been to the advantage of our Allies. There are indications of a gradual increase in activity on the Russian front, and also in the Balkans, where the guns are in action along the whole front from Lake Presba to Lake Doiran. Mr. Bonar 1 Law, the British ( Chancellor, in asking Parliament for a further credit vote of £500,000,000, reviewed tho situation in the West and our recent successes in Mesopotamia. Our superiority in artillery and in the air, he says, has beeij-amply demonstrated. There are unmistakable signs of big political developments in Germany. Herr von Bethmann-Hollweg is stated to l bo about to resign, giving place to ' Count"von Hortlir.g, Premier of Bavaria. \ 1
