Three matches, Ka=.< v. Old Boys. North v. Pe.tone, and University v. Fealherston Artillery were concluded at. the Basin Deserve, on Saturday. East defeated Old Boys on the first innings by 2SB ruus. SOLDIERS AT PLAY NORTH V. SOUTH ISLAND. The match, North Island v. South Island, which had been looked forward to for some time in military circles, was played on the Petone ground on Saturdays and the South Island team succeeded in winning by 60 runs. Tbo outstanding feature was the bowling and hatting' of F. Sbacklock, the ex-Notts and Otago professional. Sneddon (Auckland) and Bannerman (Otago) captained the respective teams.
