POLICE CASES. Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., presided over uio police, sido of tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. Isidoro Jacobus, convicted of insobrioty for the soventh time within six months, was fined 205., with tho alternativo of spending fourteen days in gaoL William AVallace, an old man charged with being an incorrigible roguo and possessing insufficient lawful means of support, was convicted and sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. Michael Burko, formerly a member of tho crew of the s.s. Rang.ltira, ivas charged with having deserted from his vessel two years ago. Ho was convicted and ordered to pay costs, £2. CIVIL BUSINESS. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided over tbo civil business. Judgment by default of defendants was given for plaintiffs in the following cases:—Public Trustee v. Arthur Nml, £8 2s. Gel., costs .CI 6s .6d,;~W. Wylio v. G. Goldsmith, £2 17s. 4d., costs 10s.; H. Webster and Co. v. Miss A. G. Williamson, £1 9s. (3d., costs 55.; Tho British Imperial Oil Co., Ltd., v. W. Duncan, £1 17s. 7d., costs 125.; F. M. Thomson v. Wm. Crozier, £10 6s. 4<L, costs £1 10s. 6d.; siimo v. Frank Lambert, £3 Is., costs 135.; Alfred Ponsford Dryden r. Mrs. Annio Low, £1, costs 6s. " In a judgment summons case, W. Thompson was ordered to pay. D. J. M'Leunan £11 10s. 6d. by March 27, or sorvo seven days in gaol. Defended cases*:—M. O'Kano v. W. W. Crawford, a claim for £1 ss. 6d., nhiintiff nonsuited: Sims Hardware Co., Ltd., v. James Purchnso, claim £2, plaintiff nonsuited, with £1 Is. costs.
