MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING,
The monthly mooting of the- Hutt County Council was held ycstorday, Councillor J. Wakoliam presiding, and there wore also present: Councillors \V Galloway, J[. \f. Welch, AV. J. Howell, J. Whitcmnii, and T. Edwards. Tho Inspector of AVorks (Mr. J. W. Cmlby) roported that a box culvort Iliad been put in the road near the military gates, Trontliam, and about I four chains of concrcto pipes had boon laid, so that tho storm-water would bo carnod effcofcually away. On tho Otailianga Road the'oxpenditu.ro for metalling had been £72 os. Id. for the last month, and this brought the amount spent on tho road since September kst up to £175 lls. Id. On the Duck Pond Bridge, on tho Lower AYainui-6-inatn Road, a notico had been put up, limiting tho weight to ho taken over to [five tons. Ho suggested that an apj plication bo made to the Government tor a J, for £ subsidy for the renewal in terro-ooncroto of White Bridgo at Akatarjiw.'i. which was in a very unsafe condition, and should bo treated as im urgent matter. The overdraft at tho bank was roported In bo £finß'l 3s. tol. Accounts amounting to £10:11 ]!)s. lid. wero passed for payment.
