« _ GENEROUS WAR GIFTS. By Telegraph—Special/ Correspondent. Masterton, March 8. At a meeting of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association to-day the sum of £1000 was voted to the Salvation Army; for promoting work amongst the soldiers, also a monthly contribution of £100 for six months. A vote of £100 per month for three months was made to the Serbian Fund, and a sub-com-mittee was sot up, with power to expend £200 in providing a building to accommodate the parents of sick soldiers near Foatborston Military Camp. A long discussion took piece upon the question of providing land for returned soldiers. Several members spoke strongly upon the necessity of procuring good land, and deprecxted sending soldiers to tho back-blocks. The discussion, was ultimately postponed for a special meeting.
