HERETAUNGA CAMP

PREPARING FOR WINTER.

The overflow canvas camp, situated near Herctaunga Station, is being overhauled and re-pitched on the most up-to-date lines before winter comes. For some time past fatiguo parties of soldiers have been at work, trenching and grading the ground. Like tho Engineers' Camp at Tfenthani, the tents will bo- arranged in rows, with properly formed streets or avenues between them. These avenues will have a crown like a roadway, and at each sido will bo deep drains filled with boulders. The ground on which the 'tents stand will be fci'milarly_ graded, so as to shed all rain water into tho drains. Since its forma lion in this manner some months ago, the Engineers' camp has been serviceable and comfortable, and the Horotaunga Camp, which is only used whon the main camp is tilled with men should be 0110 of lbs most comfoitablo of camps.
