By Telegraph.—Press Association, Dunedin, March 4. Mr. C. A. Hudson has lost by death his imported stallion Copa De Orn. This horse was the fastest pacer over imported to Australia and served bis only season in New Zealand at Mr. Kitchinghain's stud in Canterbury. Copa Do Ora is the sire of several smart performers in the United States. NOTES AND COMMENTS IBi Glencoell The V.R.C. Autumn Meeting will be' advanced a stage to-morrow, when tho Australian Cup will bo' run. At latest advices Wolaroi and Greencap wero the fancies, but tho defeat of the three-year-old in the St. Leger on Saturday will not enhance his prospects of success. Considering the recent form of Patrobas, who lias won three races on end, his owner probably now regrets having taken the Melbourne Cup winner out of the Australian Cup on tho appearance of the weights.
Client won tho Wanganui Cup on a Thursday, and on the Monday following Mr. W. M'A. Duncan received a cablegram from New Zealand soldiers in London congratulating him upon his win. The cablegram was signed' "GlennSpeed."
• Toka, winner of the Dannevirko Cup, is a four-year-old gelding by Mystification—Tattle. He has had a very successful season so far, and has won moro races than' any. other horse in tho Dominion.
The three-year-old colt Tantalus was sold by Sir George Clifford on Saturday to Mr. H. Cassidy, in whose interests he raced iii the Forsyth Flying Handicap at the Akaroa County Racing Club's meeting, later in the afternoon.
Mr. W. G. Stead's pair of three-year-olds, Sasanof and Kilboy, have been nominated . for both the big handicap events at the Auckland Eacing Club's Autumn Meeting. It is probable that only one of them will make tho trip to BUorslie.
Tho term of disqualification inflicted on Croesus having expired, the brilliant son of Royal Fusilier has been engaged in tho A.R.C. Easter Handicap. Acceptances for tho first day's handicaps at tho Napier Park Meeting close to-morrow night. 'Tho annual meeting of the Nelson Jockey Club will take placo on tho club's property at Richmond on Wednesday and Thursday. W. Bell has been angaged to ride tho Porirua team at the Jislson Meeting. The Australian-bred hurdler Plymouth figures amongst tlio entrants for. tho Autumn Steeplechase and Brighton Hurdle Race at the Auckland Eacing Club's Autumn Meeting. R. O'Donnell evidently intends to try the Grafton gelding over country, nnd will seize the opportunity to givo him. a public schooling over the Bllerslie course, which is entirely suitable for a beginner. It has been definitely decided that Hymestra is to bo sent to Auckland to contest the Great Northern Champagno Stakes. Bunting will go to Auckland at Faster. As Ashley Reed will be.riding the ■ Eiddiford horses at Eiccarton, Quinlivau approached J. Olsen on tho subject of a mount, but Oken declined, as ho will bo at Riccarton also. The three-year-old filly Marabout, by Elysian—Lady Gwen, has been giving her trainer, \V. M'Donald, a good deal of trouble lately. She has now been thrown out of work, and will be returned to Auckland, where her owner, Mr. H. R. M'lvenzie, resides.
The performance of Cardrona in winning a double at Dannevirke on Thursday was somewhat.exceptional. Cases of horses winning twice in a day are not out of the common, bat the unusual feature, so far as Cardrona is concerned, arises from the fact that ho had never previously been successful, though he is a six-year-old. He is by Lupin, his dam being of unknown pedigree, furthor than that she is by Natator.
Messrs. W. G. Stead and E. S. Luttrell ivent south last week to see Kilboy and Sasanof gallop. The horses went six furlongs and finished together, though Sasanof was going the better of theduo.
"Sentinel," of tho Otngo "Witness," says that the Gisborno horse Spcctual and a, filly by All Red—Luciana are to join C. Christie's stable in order to be trained. They will form a welcomo addition to tho small list of local horseowners.
