FIRE IN AUCKLAND
Br Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, February 25. A (ire occurred this afternoon at Hart Brothers' general emporium in Queen Street. The outbreak originated ill the umbrella department and spread rapidly in the inflammable stock, before the brigade's arrival, after which it was promptly suppressed. Considerable damage was done by water and to Btooks in the basement. There was practically no damage to the building. The estimated loss is from £2000 to £3000. The insurance on the stock is £9000, in the United Insurance Company.
