GERMANS AND RUSSIANS JOIN FORCES. Petrograd, January 26. Packs of hungry wolves infest the Polesie front, soldiers beating them off with machine-guns. In some cases the Germans joined tho Russians in fighting tho wolves. . On a recent- occasion tho Russians and Germans suspended a hot encounter and organised a joint hunt, and drove off the wolves. It is semi-oflioially stated that the details of the scheme follow closely on the lines already cabled. Men volunteers will only bo taken at present These are wanted principally for munitions, the coal mines, shipbuilding, transport, and agriculture. Standard rates will be paid.
