Jh,v9 ousted tie Turks from important defensive positions near Knt-al-Amara, and inflicted heavy losbcs. Heavy fighting is reported from the Meuse, on the Western Front, where a. German attack from four points has been gallantly held hy the French. The general aspect of increased activity right along tho Western front has led one correspondent to speculate upon the imminence of some big move. The .Russian operations in the northern sector —on the Riga front—hav& developed into a series of furious and stubborn tattles. Von Hindenbur'g is reported to be directing the operations of the enemy, who is stated to have been largely reinforced. The Greek Government still continues to eat its compulsory diet of humble pie at tho hands of the Entente Powers. The Belgian Government has received tho first authentic narratives by returned Belgian viotims of tho infamous slave raids. The account of their experiences is amazing and tragic.
