TROUBLE THREATENED. (Rec. January 19, 9. JO p.m.) London, January 18. The Agricultural Labourers' Union threatens action if Mr. R. 15. I'rotliero, Minister for Agriculture, carries out liis intention to draft into battalions C 3 men who work on the land, replacing them by men fit for nioro ac-, tive military service.
Tlio Trades Union Congress to-day decided to protest to the War Office, reminding it of its earlier promise that soldiers in civilian occupation would receive civilian pay, and not be subjected to military control—Aus.-N.Z. C-ablo Assn.
