LORD CURZON'S MARRIAGE By IfelecraDh-Presß Association-Copyrieit London, January 2. Lord Curzon, Lord President of tho Council, was married to Mrs. Duggan. —Iteuter. The Napier branch of the Women's National Reserve is doing very fine ■work. A fortnight before Christmas it sent fifty parcels to the invalided soldiers at Rotorua, one parcel mado up specially for each man, containing two day shirts, -pyjamas, "handkerchief, pipe; tobacco, cigarettes, tooth brush and cream, one lb. tin sweets, and, at their special request, a looking glass, shaving soap, and to those too shaky to use an ordinary razor safety ones wero sent. On. the outside of every parcel a pretty Christmas badge was attached. Two of the men -were badly in need of boots,'bo a special cheque ■was sentfor that purpose. Also a lai]ge. miscellaneous parcel was sent, containing cardigan lackets. pyjama ooats to do for dressing jackets, socks, and various other things. The Reserve also sent a special parcel to each invalided soldier in the Napier Hospital. lA .Victorian lady, lately returned from England, who lad visited the hospitals'and made special excursions and inquiries, emphasises the great need for a continual supply of comforts and Red Cross goods for soldiers. Everything is of use, nnd the writer says: "These facts will be of great, encouragement to all those who work for the Bed Cross, and to all those who are able to keep its funds well supplied with money. The facts also emphasise the necessity for us all keeping our work steadily going. Even the.loss of ono'article a month may cause suffering to some brave man. _ Now that we know how the work is distributed, and how-the men-thank us for our aid, let nonedf us become a slacker. Do more than ever," says the lady mentioned, "as the wear and tear is 'colossal.". Roughly speaking, she reckons the necessity in hundreds of thousands. We are glad that stationers, teachers, parents, and scholars are recognising the splendid educational value of The Thinker brand writing tablets, school exerciees, and note books. Let every reader of "The Dominion" always ask for "The Thinker's Favourite."—Advt.
