A CLOSE, WINDY DAY

A high, warm vrimC intensifying' the closeness of the air, Mew from the n'or'-west yesterday. These conditions, according to the official report by the Meteorological Department, appear to have been general all over the country, and are anti-cyclonic. The slow progress of the anti-cyclone, we are informed, has delayed the advance of a disturbance which has been developing to the westward, causing threatening conditions. High and squally northerly and westerly winds are to be expected, with a'fall in the barometer ovorywhere. Rain is probable, with unsettled weather, but the present sultry conditions are likely to continuo for a timo in the East Coast districts.
