TERRIBLE GAS EXPLOSION
"POCKET" FIRED IN A TUNNEL. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rec. July 2fl, 9.25 p.m.) New York, July 26., At Clovoland, Ohio, twenty-two people are dead and six are dying as the result of a terrific'ga9 explosion in a, tunnel. The workmen bored into a "pocket" of gas, and tho explosion killed eleven. ; The remainder and the rescuers perished owing to the absence of gas helmets. Many of the bodies have been recovered. Tho rescuers are still working. (Renter's Telegram.) New York, July 25. Twenty-four people are dead as the result of a gas explosion in waterworks under Lake Erie. Rescue parties are searching for survivors.
