•ORDINARY MEETING. A ? meeting of the .Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening, at .which Mr. F. Meadowcroft presided. A letter was received from the Wellington City Council dating that the matter in connection with having names and numbers on carts was' receiving attention. Donations were received as follow:— Head office staff, N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency, 255.; Mj. A. De B. Brandon, 215.; Bell, Gully, Bell, and Myers, 10s. Gd.; Mrs. Joseph Joseph, Mr. A. T, Bate,. AVairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, 10s. each; Miss Stichbury, Mrs. J. Thomson,' Llewellyn Smith, Kitto and Son, Bannatyne and Hunter, J. G*.' Ilott, Griffiths and Co., W. H. Bartlett, "Friend," Wellington Publishing Co., G. and T. Young, / W. Norman, ss. each'; Messrs. E. Fraser, ■ Beere, S. Philip, W. T. Grundy. J. B. Hopkirlc, C. Martin, J.P., F.J.E., C. Mann, C. and L„ P. Jowott, Miss G. Mason, "Friend," 2s. Gd. each; Messrs. Westwood, R. Herron, Miss Arndt, Is, each. Inspector Henry reported that he had dealt with ten cases of. cruelty in a satisfactory maimer since May 30. . A motion that Inspector Henry's salarj be- raised from date was carried unanimously. .
