NOTES AND COMMENTS [By Glencoe.] The Gisborno Racing Club's Winter Meeting to-morrow, and will be concluded on' Saturday, The first event starts nt 11.30 a.m., and the last race at 4 p.m. ■ The yearlings in J. W. Lowe's stables at Trentham are moving along nicely, but so far no sprinting work has been done by them. Eligible's sister and the Ringdove youngster are both showing plenty of promise, and look like turning out decidedly -useful. The well-known Trentham horseman L. M'Randall figures amongst the latest list of recruits. t ■ The southern-owned Ringform, who showed fair form at Wingatui, is to be nominated for the principal events at the winter meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. Amongst the runners in the. Maiden Hack Handicap at Gisborne to-morrow is Serbia, who showed a lot of pace in his races at Eastings in the autumn. Serbia is a good beginner, which will be to the advantage of the Multifid gelding over such a 6hort course. The running of the New Zealandowned Merrimax in the Hurdles _at Randwick this month did not _ satisfy the stipendiaries, but after hearing the trainer and rider no action was taken. The ex-Wangariui horseman F, Coleman had a winning ride at Randwick on June 3, when his mount, P.J.1., was successful in ,the First Huddles. It is stated in a'Sydnej paper that Mr. Jas. Macdonald has secured an option over but the sale will ■not be completed until the. horse is well enough to leave Miller's veterinary establishment. However, as Reputation id a highly-bred and perfectly-shaped animal, there does notjjeem much chance of the deal falling through. . S. Neary, who recently purchased Try Fluke in Auckland. liaß handed in his jockey's license to the V.R.C., and when lie returns to Melbourne he will put in for a trainer'B license. . Sea Pink, who is now nearly eight years of ag n , does not seem to be on the improve. He was one of the wellba cited division in the V.R.C. Birthday Handicap run at Flemington on June 9, but lie Failed ,to flatter his supporters at any. stage of the Tace, and finished nearly last. At Awapuni on Monday Nystad ' was added to the list,-'and when next lie races it will be as a gelding. That good horse St. Carwynno has failed to stand training, and will go to the stud , next season. In The Flying Handicap/at Randwick on Jnne 5 Three had lOst' 21b., Svhich was 211bs. more , than anything else in the race. He started favourite, : but for the first time this season he finished out of a place. Two days previously, on the saiuo coursn, lie had again acted as runner-up to Hopfield, who also d«fedted him at Canterburv. Park..
