ST. PETER'S CHURCH
ANNUAL REPORT.
The annual report of tho- churchwardens and vestry of St. Peter's Church, Willis Strest, states that theie lias been a marked increase ill the ordinary weekly offertories, these amounting to £750, a weekly average of £16 10s., as against £14 for the previous year. "Although our offertories have increased, and other receipts have been normal," states the report, "yet the financial position of the parish is not quite so satisfactory as at the close of last year. This is owing principally to special expenditure on the vicarage, which was absolutely necessary, and the increased expenditure for the maintcn-' ance of tho present clerical staff, and lay agencies in the parish, the pressing necessity of which has long been ap? parent to those ivho have any khi/wledgu of the state and conditions of certain areas within its boundaries. It lias been determined to tndeavour to obtain the services of a Church Army captain from England to work in the districts referred to, and this will add a further liability to the parish, but the needs are imperative, and wo hopefully and earnestly appeal to the parishioners to ( provide tho necessary funds to enable the work to be successfully carricd out." Acknowledgment is made of the substantial financial 6uppgrt the parish ims received from tho. Ladies' Working Tarty. The accounts show that amongst the special offerings there is £31 for the sick and wounded fund, in addition to 'sums for church and Maori mis- j sions, etc. ' 1
