NOTES AND COMMENTS

[Br Glencoe.]

The Feilding meeting: will be concluded to-day. Big fields will be seen out in all the events, and the results promise to be difficult for investors to anticipate correctly.

In the Hack Welter Handicap, Ladify, the first day's winner, is again top weight, but as sho only arrived very late on, the scene on the opening day, the distance may be too short for the Levin mare today. Kukri ran a good race on the first day, and should improve. Amity was carrying 71b. over-weight on the first day, and with a change of riders to-day 'he should do a lot better.

For the Denbigh Stakes Tirana may be the favourite, as he is certain to be a better horse for the race on Monday, and is meeting Astor on 51b. better terms, The last-named does not handlo weight too well, and the last furlong will tell

witli the big weight. Tararu Jack has only been raised 13lb. in the Iviinboltou Hurdles for a very easv win on Monday, and the distance, which is nearly half a mile shorter, will suit him better. Harbour Light is a fresh horse in the race, but unless done some schooling he may not be at his best.

Scrutineer, like Tararu Jack, won on the opening day, but by a head only, and for this he has been raised 181b., against 131b. to Tararu Jack. The Hack Hurdles is run. over the same distance, .whereas the open hurdles is over a shorter distance. The big vise will probably find out the Porirua horse, and lord Nelson may defeat him, as he "was running on well at the finish on the opening (lay. In the Master Handicap, Square Deal is in with fist. 101b., or 21b. more than he scored with at Awapuni the week previous. He meets Want on 7lb, and Orleans on 61b. better terms" than when ho defeated them at the Manawatu meeting, Tho two horses named were the place-get-ters in the Cup on Monday.

In the .Ron"a Hack Handicap, six furlongs, Mahzoltov, who was placed fifth in the Mangaone Stakes, is in with 7st. 71b. This is 51b. less than h;i was weighted with in a similar race on. tho opening day, ; The tflnflliidlns event l« the Slaklne Welt HwdiWßi WW W seven furJojyj3 (

Tho first day's winner and runner-up nra again engaged, and so is Miralina, who started ill tho Cup' 011 the opening day, and ran prominently for a mile. At Woodviilo in February the Officer maro won over seven furlongs, and those that finished behind lier included Multiply and 'Gold Painting.

Judging by the handicaps for tlia Antinmi Nursery at Ricearton on Thursday, Mr. Henrys expeels Kilboy, who will have the allowance against Good Hope's penalty, to beat all the two-year-olds in the C.J.G'. Challenge Stakes. Mr. .1. li, Iteid's colt is unlucky, inasmuch as he is still a maiden, and is up at the top of the handicap. At Trer.tham early this month he got beaten in a two-year-old handicap when carrying only Gst, 101b.

In tho Autumn Plate at Riccarton on Thursday, Se.idown gave Revalenta 7lb, and a beating in the Yaldhurst Weltei Handicap, rnu over, a furlong shorter; there is now 19lb. between them, which should reverse tho positious at the finish. Nominations for tho Marlborough Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, to be lield 011 May 17 and 18, close to-night.
