LOCAL SHORTAGES DECREASING
THE LATEST RECRUITS
The Wejliugtcn Military District's shortage for tho Fifteenth Reinforcements was decreased to 25 yesterday, when tho following five men were sent into Trontham Camp:—H. C. Young, H. J. M. Meiklo, A. E. Thomas, J. W. Curlew, and F. J. Rose. New Recruits Register. During the last few days recruits for the reinforcements have been offering more freely. Up till yesterday there was only a shortage of 75 from Wellington's quota for the Sixteenth Reinforcements. "Up to the present 98 men havo registered for this reinforcement, and the officials anticipate that during the next fortnight the greater part of the shortage will be made up. The response for men for the. Tunnelling Corps is so far oonsidered to be satisfactory. Out of- 22 recruits who were declared medically fit yesterday, eight signed on for the Tunnelling Corps.
