THEFT AT THE HERMITAGE
A FORMER PORTER CONVICTED. By Telegraph— Press Association. Tlmaru, January 26. Guide J. N, Lippe, on leaving his hut at the Hermitage for a couple of days, January 9-11, left his purse containing £23 and other valuables in a pocket of a coat banging up, and did not look at it till his second return on January 14, and the purse had then gone. G. H. M'Lauchlan, engaged as a porter at the Hermitage, was charged today with the theft of th'e purse and contents, and pleaded guilty. He was arrested at Fairlie, and, after'denying, confessed the theft.
