GERMAN NEWSPAPER SUSPENDED
« "VORWAERTS" COMPLAINS OF FOOD SUPPLY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. November 9, 11.40 p.m.) Amsterdam, November 9. Tho German Socialist newspaper "Vorwacits" has been suspended owing to criticism on the Government food supply. The Leipzic "Volks Zeitung" publishes a manifesto calling for a meeting to protest against the high food prices. It says: "Whilst the sons of workers are bleeding on the battlefields it is intolerable that famine oppresses the people everywhere in Germany."

A correspondent with the British Headquarters accompanied a- party of distinguished foreigners who were visit, ing points of interest over the ground of the recent fighting. They watched the artillery replying' to the German shell fire with interest. "Our ability to do this is really the orux of the situation. Previously it was the Germans who had the artillery, _ and the Allies were forced to maintain silence under daily provocation. Now the boot is on the other foot. Though we have consumed enormous supplies of ammunition during October we have an. ample margin for daily use."
