SUBMARINE EXPLOITS IN THE BALTIC By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, November 8. The German protected cruiser Undine —2620 toils, 21£ knots, 10 4.lin. guns, built ill 1902—was torpedoed in the Baltic. Most of lier crew of 275 officers and men were saved. A BLOW IN THE VITALS. (Rec. November 9, 5.50 p.m.) Copenhagen, November 8. One of tlie torpedoes struck the Undiiie in tlie machine-room. A special train brought the survivors and the dead to Kiel. The submarine one liour previously had purchased provisions from a Swedish steamer. Since Sunday Swedish warships have convoyed merchant ships in the Baltic.
GERMAN OFFICIAL ACCOUNT. (Rec. November 9, 9.45 p.m.) Amsterdam, November 9. An official telegram from Berlin states: —''The German cruiser Undine was sunk on Sunday while patrolling the south coast of Sweden. A submarine fired two torpedoes. Nearly the whole of tho crew were saved. A MESSAGE FROM BERLIN. (R-ec. November 9, 5.50 p.m.) London, November 8. A Renter message from Berlin states that tho German cruiser Undino was sunk by a submarino in tho Baltic yesterday.
