ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY

The Wellington Zoological Society's fifth annual meeting was held in Mr. Castle's rooms, Newtown, last evening. There was a fair attendance of members, and Mr. T. Fathers, president of the society, presided. The report and balance-sheet, as published in tho society's handbook, was read and adopt-

cd. Tho following were unanimously elected members of the society: Kev. Archdeacon Dovoy, and Messrs. Chisliolm, J. M. Dale, It. A. Hayes, W. A. Kellow, C. C. Larmour, C. A. Marquis, and A. Trevcrsa.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patron, Sir 'Robert Stout; vice-patron, His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) ; president, Mr. Thomas Fathers; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. A. Parkinson, M.A., 0. M'Laren, C. J. Lockwood, E. Read, R. A. Wright, M.P., R, Brown; council, Mesdames J. Pollock, J. Castle, F. H. Underwood, — Winter, Von. Archdeacon Devoy, Rev. J. Crewes, Messrs. S. H. Chinchen, E. Collie, J. Crewes, A. Crosby, F. J.. Caterer, M. G. Grensido, A. R. Hornblow, A. J. Martin, R. Morrish, J. Newhouse, H. Sexton, J. Pollock, S. H. Underwood, C. ,M. Luke, and S. Ferguson; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Castle; lion, auditor, Mr. R. H. Chinchen. It was resolved that the society will pay £3 towards the price of a pair of pigmy horned-owls, if the Gity Council will pay the balance, and place tho birds in the Zoo.
