Minister of Agriculture whether the Government .intended to introduce this-year 'an- amendment to j tne Orchard and Garden Act. _ The Hon. W. D. S. MaCDONALD said , that a BUI was being prepared. It had not. yet been before Cabinet, but if sufficient',time was available the Bill would be introduced into the iiouse. • _ ' Mr. ft A, WILKINSON (Emont) asked : the Minister of Finance whether instructions had been given that, cases of. kerosene landed since ■ tha date on which duty was imposed should _be branded with, a-Government; stamp. He liad been informed that 'some keroseiie had been landed in cases that were hot stamped, and as - it was decreed that no unstamped kerosene could be sold at a price higher than- was in 'vogue before August-26 a great deal of. inconvenience was likely to be caused. . SIR JOSEPH WARD said that before the issue of stamps was authorised eome kerosene was landed unstamped from a vessel in Wellington, and distributed, This could not occur: again, because stamps were now available, and, were being issued. He explained that inconveniences of one sort and another were unavoidable when Customs duties were being imposed or taken off.
