THE CIVIL LIST. After the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition had made statements (reported elsewhere) on th<s subject of tho formation of a National Government, ' The Civil List Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor's Message.; ' The Right Hon. W. P. MASSEY (Prime Minister) olaimed urgency for the measure.. ■ On tho second reading : Mr. Massey said that after,, the statement made that afternoon .the Bill required little explanation. It; provided for tli'e addition of two paid members to■ the' Ministry. 'At present the law only allowed eight, and the amended Bill would'provide for .ten. The payment allowed by law at present was £9700, and it was increased to £11,700. The Bill was only for the period of the war. The Bill was put through all stages The House adjousned at 3.27 p.m. until .Thursday,.August 19, at 7.30 p.m., and permission was given to committees to sit to-day. .
