LIVELY FIGHT NORTH OF SOUCHEZ London, July 28, 4.45 p.m. The High Commissioner reports: — "In the Artois region, jiorth 'of Souchez, tiie Germans, after a heavy bombardment, attackccl at three points. There was lively fighting, and our advance trenches were penetrated, except at one point, where twenty metres were retained. . "In the Argonne, in the region of Fontaine aux Charmes, the enemy attempted an attack, and was repulsed by infantry fire." FRENCH OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE.. ■ (Roe. July 29, 9.45 p.m.) Paris, July 29. Official.—"Wo occupied two of the enemy's blockhouses, cast of Li'ngekopf and Srbrazzmannclc. ' "There have been no incidents elsowhero." GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. ' ' By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Amsterdam, July 28. 'A' German official communique says: "The Silesian Landsturm stormed the trenches north-west of Souchez, and captured four machine-guns. "On the Lingekopf-Barrenkopf lino, after a four hours' hand-to-hand struggle, our counter-attacks repulsed the French attacks. Wo recaptured t'ba trenches lost at Lingekopf, except a small portion."
