In the House of Commons, Sir John' Simon (Secretary, for Home Affairs) announced that the Internment Commit* tee had practically coiicludod its work. It had received 14,000 applications for oxemption; 6092 were granted, 732 refused, and 700 undetermined. Internments since May 13 totalled 9325, and repatriations 6302. Tho average' was 1000 internments weekly. Tho commit* Austrian applications in view of tho leniency shown British' subjects in Austria in contrast to GoN many.
