ESTIMATES FOR' THE YEAR. Including the ilebit balance to April 1, 1910, of £8788, the estimated expenditure of the Hutt borough for the coming year is 6et down at whilst the receipts are estimated at i 11,564, of which £9130 14s. od. will'bs coii'nbuted by the general rate. Ttiis should leave a debit balance at March 31, l'Dlfi, ~of £8729. In past years it has been the custom to transfer a substantial sum from the waterworks account to the peneral account. This year, however, the amount has been greatly reduced, and the council is also asked to pro/ido for the Hutt Road, increase in Hospital levy, a share of the cost of f'c Hutt Park Road, purchase of a section for a meta 1 - cnishing depot, and a year's. interest on the Recreation Ground loan.' To provide for this the general vato has teen raised from 2 2-sd. to 2 15 16d. m the £, on a valuation 1 of £770,M0. As against the extra amount required, householders will benefit by an increase in their gas discount of od. per I'JOO cubic feet.
