STORY OF A GALLANT CHARGE
WOROESTERS' ORDEAL ON v GALLIPOLI. By Telegraph—Press' Association—Oopyrlgh . (ltec. June 30, 10.35 p.m.) Cairo, Jnne 30. Further details of the fighting at Krithia on June A show that tho Worcester fought with'the greatest pluck and determination. They suffered heavily, but carried all before them. The Turks fled at our approach, but their machine-guns on our right gradually thinned the British ranks,-pouring a consistent and deadly fire." One officer describing the action' said: "If a tennis ball had been thrown into the air it would have been riddled. Notwithstanding this the Worcester advanced dauntlessly, -and ousted the Turks from their trenches. The enemy ■ were able to keep their reserves in seourily behind Achi Baba, and had all the advantage of position, while they, outnumbered lis by three to one. "Our gain of five hundred yards, therefore, was distinctly good.. Achi Baba can only be taken at tho bayonet'B point. The enemy's observation of fire : is very accurate. Many of their shrapnel . shells were filled with sand and saw- e . dust."
