MEETING OF CREDITORS

ESTATE OF SCURR BROS. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Scurr Bros., coal dealers. of Jiiamett Street, was held at she Official Assignee's Office yesterday. Mr. S. Tan6ley presided, tho followiug creditors being present: Messrs. W. A. Flavell (Westport Coal Co.), W. G. Gaudin, E. G. Pitcher (Tyneside Coal Co.), W. W. Gibson (John Mill and. Co.), and W. G. Hamilton (Wellington Gas Co ). The bankrupt's stock-in-trade, accordins to the statement produced, tot:..!ed £303 15s. Cd., oash in bank £13, sud book debts £160, making a total of £466 15s. 6d. Tho unsecured creditors totalled £328 Bs. Id., the creditors being as follow: Westport Coal Co., £109 os. 7d. i W. J. Gaudin and Son, £92 16s. 4d.; A. Kellaway and Son, £45 17s. 6d.; Henry Wright, £39; Redpath and Son, £15 16s. 4d.: John Mill and Co., £0 17s. lOd.; and the TyneBide Coal Co., Hutchings, James Ogden and Son, and Gas. Co. for smaller amounts. The bankrupts, in their sworn statement. said that thoy commenced business about four and a half years ago 'as coal dealers, paying £154 for tho business, which had been carried on by them since that date. They had about £100 cash, and £50 which had si'ice been repaid. They could never really get ahead of things owing principally to there not being enough business to keep them going. As they had found it quite impossible to meet their obligations, they thought it advisable to file. Family expenses had also used up capital. During the last year four horses, valued at £120, and two horses valued at about £65, had been lost. Mr. Flavoll proposed, and Mr. Gaudin seconded, that the bankrupts bo authorised to collect the book debts on behalf of the Official Assignee, and that they be paid at the rate of 9s. per day. The motion was carried. It was also decided to sell bankrupts' stock and plant by auction. The meeting then adjourned 6ine die.
